“Freedom Is Meant for Everyone”: Consecrated Persons Unite Against Human Trafficking

«“Freedom is meant for everyone.”»

A powerful conviction of ensuring freedom has brought together more than 40 people from across Ghana for the annual in-person meeting of the Consecrated Persons Against Human Trafficking (CONPAHT–Talitha Kum Ghana).

The participants included network members from 17 Female Religious Congregations, two Male Religious Congregations, Youth Ambassadors, and representatives of other organisations.

The three-day gathering, held from August 26 to 28 2026 at the Santasi Centre for Spiritual Renewal in Kumasi, provided an opportunity for members of the network to reflect, share experiences, strengthen collaborations, and develop strategies for combating the growing menace of human trafficking in Ghana.

The meeting brought together Consecrated Men and woymen and other committed partners who share one mission: to protect human dignity, prevent trafficking, support victims and survivors, and work together towards a society where everyone can live in freedom and safety.

Members began arriving at the Santasi Centre for Spiritual Renewal on August 26 from different parts of the country.

The youth ambassadors warmly welcomed participants and assisted with registration, room allocations, and the distribution of T-shirts, name tags, and other materials needed for the meeting.

The opening session began with a beautiful prayer led by Sr. Mabel Abayol, SSND, setting a reflective and prayerful tone for the gathering.

The outgoing National Coordinator, Sr. Olivia Umoh, DC, a member of the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul welcomed all participants and expressed her appreciation for their presence
