The Provincial Superior of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), Ghana Province, in collaboration with the Education Committee, has organized a three-day Education Policy Orientation, School Review and Institutional Management Workshop for Heads of Institutions and Bursars of the HHCJ, Ghana Province.
The workshop was held from August 19 to 21, 2026 at the HHCJ Guest House, Nsoatre, and brought together leaders responsible for the administration and financial management of the Congregation’s educational institutions across the Province.

The workshop opened on Wednesday, August 19, with the arrival and registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer and welcome address by the Provincial Superior, Sr. Judith Beatrice Magbity, HHCJ.
In her welcome address, she underscored the importance of effective leadership, accountability and collaboration in advancing the educational mission of the Congregation.
Following the welcome address, Sr. Christiana Chika Ifeabunike, HHCJ, Liaison Councillor for Education, gave a brief overview of the purpose of the gathering.

She explained that the workshop was intended to provide participants with a common understanding of the Congregation’s education policy, review the performance of its schools and strengthen institutional management practices.
The workshop was facilitated by Sr. Faustina Ganaa, HHCJ, Chairperson of the Education Committee, and Sr. Benedicta Uzokwe, HHCJ, Headmistress of Sacred Heart Senior High School, Nsoatre.

Strengthening Policy and Educational Leadership
The first day focused on Orientation and Policy Foundations, with participants reflecting on the vision, mission and values of Catholic education, as well as the governance structures and leadership roles within the Congregation’s educational institutions.
An interactive reflection session enabled the participants to discuss the implications of the education policy for their respective institutions and to consider practical ways of translating the policy into effective educational leadership and service.
The second day, Thursday, 20th August, focused on School Supervision and Management.
The morning session featured presentations of supervision reports by the Education Committee, followed by presentations from school heads on the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) performance of their institutions over the past three years, together with current results.

Participants also engaged in a review of teaching and learning resources through a Textbook Exhibits session, aimed at assessing the adequacy and relevance of textbooks and other educational materials available in the schools.
The afternoon session concentrated on Institutional Management and Accounting.
Discussions centred on financial accountability and reporting, budgeting and resource allocation, as well as the roles of bursars and finance committees in ensuring sound financial administration.
A Best Practices
Sharing session provided an opportunity for participants to learn from selected schools through case studies, while a strategic planning session challenged school leaders to align findings from supervision with the goals and priorities of the Congregation’s education policy.
Towards Greater Accountability and Effective Service
The final day, Friday, 21st August, focused on Closing and Departure.
Participants considered recommendations and action points emerging from the workshop and formulated collective resolutions aimed at strengthening the management and administration of HHCJ educational institutions.

The closing reflections emphasized the need for renewed commitment to effective management, accountability, quality education and service.
Participants were encouraged to take the lessons and recommendations of the workshop back to their respective institutions and translate them into concrete actions.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for the Heads of Institutions and Bursars to reflect together, share experiences, identify challenges and explore practical strategies for improving the administration and educational outcomes of HHCJ schools.
The gathering ultimately reaffirmed the Congregation’s commitment to quality Catholic education, responsible stewardship and transformative leadership, in keeping with its mission of forming young people through education and service.
