Ms. Jennifer Akuamoah, a Communication Specialist took the members of the Catholic Sister Communicators Network Ghana (CASCON-GH) through vital media training on ” Human Elements of the story writing”at the Catholic Spiritual Renewal Centre (CSR), Kumasi.
The renowned Ghanaian journalist, led an engaging and practical session on the art of meaningful storytelling.

Addressing Catholic Sister Communicators from across Ghana, Ms. Akuamoah challenged participants to see every story through the lens of the human person.
She stressed that impactful journalism goes beyond reporting events; it uncovers the experiences, emotions, struggles, hopes, and faith of the people at the heart of every story.
A key message throughout the session was the importance of accuracy, responsibility, and credibility in reporting the story.
She reminded the Sisters that the goal of a communicator is not to be the first to break a story, but to be truthful and accurate.

She encouraged participants to resist the pressure of speed at the expense of facts, insisting that responsible storytelling builds trust and safeguards the dignity of individuals and communities.
She further structured her presentation around the fundamental principles of storytelling—the Five Ws and One H: Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How?
She explained that every well-written news story should answer these six essential questions clearly and accurately, enabling audiences to understand not only what happened but also its significance.
Throughout the interactive session, participants reflected on how these principles align with the mission of Catholic communicators.

As Religious Women entrusted with proclaiming the Gospel, they were encouraged to use the media as a tool of evangelisation, giving voice to the voiceless, promoting justice and peace, and sharing authentic stories of faith, hope, and service.
The session concluded with a renewed invitation for the Sisters to engage confidently in today’s media landscape while remaining rooted in Gospel values.
By embracing the human elements of storytelling and applying the Five ‘Ws’ and One ‘H’ with integrity, Catholic Sister Communicators are better equipped to produce stories that are truthful, inspiring, and capable of touching hearts while bringing the Church’s mission closer to society.

The ongoing CASCON-GH media workshop continues to empower Catholic Sisters with practical communication skills, preparing them to become credible storytellers who communicate not only information but also the transformative presence of Christ in the lives of the people they serve.
