On August 15, 2026, scores of Catholics of the Tamale Archdiocese, gathered with joy and deep faith to celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the our Lady of Peace Grotto situated in Jamboai.
The celebration was graced by the presence of four different female congregations of Religious Sisters from the Archdiocese.
Their presence added a special dimension to the celebration, as the Sisters joined the faithful in prayer, thanksgiving, and honouring the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Their participation was also a beautiful testimony to the role of consecrated women in the life and mission of the Church.

The celebration was a beautiful expression of devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, and a reminder of the hope that awaits all who faithfully follow Christ.
The main celebrant was Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, who presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration.
His presence added great significance to the occasion as the faithful gathered around the altar to give thanks to God and honour the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Feast of the Assumption, celebrated every year on August 15, commemorates the Catholic faith that, at the end of her earthly life, the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.

For the faithful, this feast is not simply a celebration about Mary; it points directly to Christ and to the promise of eternal life for those who remain faithful to God.
At Our Lady of Peace, Grotto Jomboai, the celebration brought together parishioners, Religious brothers and Sisters, families, children, and other members of the Catholic community.
The atmosphere was filled with prayer, thanksgiving, songs of praise, and joyful participation in the Eucharistic celebration.

Mary’s life provides a powerful example of faith, humility, obedience, and complete trust in God. From her response to the Angel Gabriel—“Let it be done to me according to your word”—Mary accepted God’s plan even when she could not see the whole journey ahead.
Her Assumption therefore reminds Christians that a life surrendered to God is never lived in vain.
The celebration also invited the faithful to reflect on their own Christian journey. In a world where people can easily become discouraged by difficulties, Mary remains a sign of hope. Her journey from Nazareth to heavenly glory reminds believers that suffering, sacrifice, and faithfulness can lead to the joy that God has prepared for His children.

The devotion of the people at Grotto Jomboai to Our Lady of Peace was particularly evident throughout the celebration.
Through their prayers and participation, they expressed their confidence in Mary’s maternal intercession and their desire to imitate her virtues.
The Feast of the Assumption also carries a strong message for families and young people. Mary teaches the importance of listening to God, respecting His will, serving others, and remaining faithful even during difficult moments. Her life challenges every Christian to ask: Am I allowing God to guide my life? Am I willing to say yes to Him as Mary did?

As the faithful celebrated under the patronage of Our Lady of Peace, they were reminded that Mary always leads her children closer to Jesus. Her greatness comes from her relationship with Christ, and her mission continues to point the Church toward her Son.
The celebration at Our Lady of Peace, Grotto Jomboai, was therefore more than a feast day. It was an opportunity to renew faith, strengthen Christian fellowship, give thanks to God, and entrust families and the entire community to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

May Our Lady of the Assumption continue to intercede for the faithful of the Tamale Archdiocese, and may her example inspire every Christian to live with courage, humility, love, and unwavering faith.
