Three SVI Sisters Participate in Ongoing CASCON-GH Media Training

Three Sisters of the Incarnate Word ( SVI) are currently participating in a three-day media and communication training programme organised by the Catholic Sisters Communication Network Ghana (CASCON-GH) at the Centre for Spiritual Renewal in Kumasi.

The training, which began on July 29 and will conclude on August 2 2026, brings together Catholic Sisters from various congregations across Ghana to strengthen their media and communication skills.

Representing the Sisters of the Incarnate Word were Sr. Rebecca Asante, Sr. Veronica Fekaa, and Sr. Mary Adi Gyamfi. They are among the participants receiving practical training in photography, videography, storytelling, and digital communication to support the communication ministries of their Congregations.

The training is intended to equip Catholic Sisters with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively communicate the mission of the Church, document apostolic works, and preserve the history and heritage of their religious institutes through quality visual and digital media.

As part of the programme, each participating congregation were presented with a Canon digital camera and an official CASCON-GH media jacket.

These resources are intended to enhance the Sisters’ capacity to capture high-quality photographs and videos during community activities, pastoral ministries, formation programmes, and other significant events.

One of the practical sessions was facilitated by a professional camera technician, Mr. Derrick Attistsogbui Klu who guided participants through the proper handling and operation of the Canon camera.

The Sisters received hands-on instruction on assembling and attaching the camera lens, charging and maintaining the battery, inserting and caring for the SD card, adjusting camera settings, and effectively using the flash to produce quality images under different lighting conditions.

Participants also had the opportunity to practise using the equipment under the guidance of the facilitator.

The accompanying photographs show Sr. Rebecca Asante, Sr. Veronica Fekaa, and Sr. Mary Adi Gyamfi proudly wearing their CASCON-GH media jackets while holding their newly received Canon camera. Their joyful expressions reflect their enthusiasm for acquiring new skills that will strengthen the communication ministry of their congregation.

As the training continues, participants are engaging in additional sessions designed to deepen their understanding of media production, visual storytelling, ethical communication, and content creation for evangelization.

The knowledge and experience gained are expected to empower the sisters to tell inspiring stories of faith, service, and hope while preserving valuable moments in the life and mission of their congregation
