Nsoatre-Sunyani, Ghana | 22 August 2026
Twelve Sisters of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), Ghana Province, renewed their religious vows on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Our Lady of the Annunciation Novitiate, Nsoatre-Sunyani, reaffirming their commitment to Christ and their consecrated vocation.
The Sisters, drawn from four different sets—2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025—renewed their vows in a spirit of gratitude and renewed commitment, once again saying “yes” to the Lord and to the call to Consecrated Life.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ruben Opoku Nakuitey, with the Provincial Superior of the HHCJ Ghana Province and her Council present to accompany the sisters in this significant moment of their vocation.
The renewal of vows took place immediately after the homily, allowing the sisters to respond to the Word of God by publicly reaffirming their commitment to live faithfully the vows they had previously professed.

In his homily, Fr. Ruben reflected on the Gospel from Matthew 23:1–12, in which Jesus cautions his disciples against seeking titles, recognition and places of honour while failing to live what they profess.
He particularly emphasised humility and servant leadership, reminding the sisters that true greatness in the sight of God is found not in recognition from people but in humble service.

Drawing from Christ’s words, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted,” the Priest encouraged the Sisters to keep Christ at the centre of their consecrated lives and to allow God’s will, rather than personal recognition or status, to guide them.
The message was especially significant as the twelve Sisters renewed their vows. Their renewed “yes” was a reminder that consecrated life requires a continual surrender to God and a willingness to serve others in humility, following the example of Jesus Christ.

The presence of Sisters from the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 sets also reflected the continuity of the HHCJ vocation in the Ghana Province.
Though from different years of profession, the sisters were united by one call: to belong to Christ and to serve God and His people faithfully.

The celebration at the Our Lady of the Annunciation Novitiate therefore became a moment of thanksgiving, renewal and recommitment as the twelve sisters entrusted themselves once again to God’s grace and mercy.
Their renewed vows stand as a testimony that religious consecration is a daily “yes” a commitment to follow Christ, serve with humility, seek God’s glory above human recognition, and remain faithful to the mission entrusted to them as Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus.
