Twenty Sister Communicators undergoing Media and Communication training at the Centre for Spiritual Renewal in Kumasi, have been encouraged to be concerned with the goals and development of the Church.

Rev. Fr. Peter Laast, CSSp, a staff at the Centre, in a homily during a Eucharistic celebration on May 8, 2024, advised the Sisters not to be discouraged when they experience difficulties but focus on what the Church offers for them.

The Sisters are currently at the Centre for a 9-day Media and Communications Training funded by Conrad Hilton Foundation.

The Spiritan Priest reminded the Sisters that God had given human beings three things-Intellect, Will, and Freedom, saying that “God gives these gifts, so we should not think that we can outsmart God or play on people’s intelligence.”

The celebrant related to communicators that there are times people think they are so powerful and can do anything in our freedom. ‘Paul’s missionary journey is a reminder to us as Christians.

Fr. Laast said, “The missionary journey of St. Paul is a message for us; in the sight of people, we might be seen as failures but in the sight of God, we are successful”. This means that Christians must not give up because of the challenges they face in their missionary work.

He entreated Christians to allow themselves to be purified by the Holy Spirit by opening their minds and hearts to God as they await the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

He, therefore, admonished Sisters not to think they know it all, rather, they should respect people’s views and make good use of their ideas too, encouraging them, to persevere in their belief, that, with the help of God, they would overcome life’s challenges.

Fr. Last reminded the Sisters about the fact that they are called to be faithful and not to be successful.

Meanwhile, during one of the training Session, Mr. Bless Mawunyo Gadese, who took the Sister Communicators into website management introduced the group to the internet, browser, website management, and creation of blog.

The internet, according to him, is a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Communication can be done on the Internet using desktops, printers, mobiles, servers, and laptops.

A browser he said, was is a programme used to surf the internet, citing google chrome, safari, firefox, internet explorer, opera, and edge as examples.

Touching on WordPress, Mr. Gadese said it is the content management system that people use for their websites which is a set of related web pages located under a single domain name, typically produced by a single person or organization he said.
