The Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, an Auxiliary Bishop of Accra Archdiocese and Episcopal Chair for Clergy and Consecrated Life in Ghana, has lauded participants at a joint Congress of the Regional Conference of Major Superiors of West Africa (RECOMSWA) and Africa Religious Union Ghana (ARUG) for being true witnesses of the Gospel.
He made this known in a goodwill message during the Opening Ceremony of RECOMSWA and ARUG Conference at the Christian Village-Santasi, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, West Africa, on March 13, 2026.

Dwelling on the theme for the Conference “Consecrated Life for Transformation,” which he described as both “timely and prophetic” the Auxiliary Bishop opined that it spoke powerfully to the mission of the Church in today’s world, particularly in Africa.
To him, Consecrated men and women remain a vital leaven of yeast within the people of God.

“You are true witnesses to the gospel through lives of prayer, community and selfless service, and here particularly in the country, your selfless services are felt everywhere within the country,” he lauded.

Bishop Louis bemoaned the dynamics of time marked by “social changes, moral challenges and deep human mongering” and charged the Consecrated Persons gathered to be up to the task. “Your commitment to the evangelical councils offers all; renewal and transformation to our Church and society at large,” he reminded.
He wished the participants well, sharing the hope that the Congress be a great moment of discernment, mutual encouragement and renewed zeal for mission, for them. He also prayed that collaboration may be strengthened across Congregations and Regions.

“May the Holy Spirit deepen your commitment and empower you to continue being credible witnesses of Christ, transforming life,” he supplicated.
