The President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, has extended a heartfelt goodwill to the consecrated persons on behalf of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) from the sub-region of West Africa, lauding them for their collaborative spirit in the growth of the Church’s Mission.

The President of GCBC, who is also the Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, in his message on March 13, 2026 commended the participants of the Regional Conference of Major Superiors of West Africa (RECOMSWA), and the Africa Religious Union, Ghana (ARUG), for providing a valuable platform for prayerful reflection, mutual enrichment and renewed collaboration in the Church’s mission.

Addressing the assembly, he pointed out that the theme of the Conference, “Consecrated Life for Transformation,” was compelling for the modern era, speaking directly to the prophetic vocation of consecrated men and women as they navigate the spiritual, social, and moral challenges of the present day.

Through a radical commitment to the Gospel and faithful witness, he underscored that consecrated life continues to play a vital role in the holistic transformation of individuals, communities, and entire nations.

Bishop Gyamfi further reiterated that the Joint Congress serves as a valuable way of bringing together diverse religious institutes, affirming the enduring contributions of the Religious Orders to the Church’s mission in fields such as evangelization, healthcare, education, and social justice.

Commending the organizers for their vision and fraternal spirit, he praised the dedication of RECOMSWA, the Conference of Major Superiors-Ghana (CMRS-Gh) and ARUG for bringing this ecclesial gathering to fruition.

He expressed the hope that the shared experiences and deliberations during the Congress would inspire a renewed zeal and deepen the transformative witness of the Consecrated life in the Church and in society.

He assured that the Bishops remain in constant prayer and solidarity with the participants, as he wished them success and spiritual fruitfulness of the event.

Present at the Opening Ceremony were the Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese, the Most Rev. Peter Kwasi Sarpong; the Most Rev. Gabriel Yaw Anokye Archbishop of Kumasi; the Most Reverend John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra; Sr. Tiziana Merletti, SPF, Secretary to the Discastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Vatican Rome and Very Rev.
