The Catholic Sisters Communicators Network – Ghana (CASCON-GH) have participated in a virtual training session on May 18, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., aimed at strengthening the communication skills of its about 50 members.
The meeting which was facilitated by Global Newswatch Media and Communications team, was divided into two key sessions focusing on Media Ethics and Responsibilities and Crisis Communication and Reputation Management.
The virtual training is part of a three-year Media funded project by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, a U.S.A charitable foundation established in 1944 by the hotel entrepreneur is to train Sisters to acquire the requisite skills to project their mission in this contemporary era.

The first session of the training, held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., was facilitated by Mr. Benjamin Alpha Aidoo, a Lawyer and Media and Communications Expert and Mrs. Esohe Olajide, a Lawyer.
They described media ethics as the principles and standards that guide the conduct of journalists and media practitioners. The facilitators emphasized the responsibility of communicators to act in the public interest, uphold truth, and take accountability for their work. Key values highlighted included accountability, independence, fairness, impartiality, objectivity, and confidence in communication.
The second session, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., which was led by Ms. Jennifer Kwakyewa Akuamoah, a seasoned communications specialist and Mr. Robert Dela Mawuenyegah, an astute Communications, Events, and Management Professional, focused on crisis communication and reputation management.
Participants were encouraged to remain calm during crises, communicate accurate information, maintain consistent messaging, and appoint a spokesperson when necessary. They also stressed the importance of informing appropriate authorities, being prepared, and relying on prayer as part of effective crisis management.
The interactive session provided participants with the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and contribute to discussions. The training was described as both informative and enriching, equipping members with practical knowledge and skills for effective media engagement.
