At Nsoatre-Sunyani, Ghana, April 10, 2026, the Sisters of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), Ghana Province, have commenced a leadership workshop aimed at strengthening community life and mission through effective discipleship, record keeping, and communication.

The workshop, held at the HHCJ Novitiate in Nsoatre-Sunyani, brought together 31 sisters(Community Superiors and assistants on its opening day, April 10, 2026. Facilitated by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol, SVD, under the theme: “Advancing HHCJ, Ghana Province towards Excellence through Strategic Discipleship, Record Keeping and Communication.”

In her welcome address, the Provincial Superior, Sr. Judith Magbity, HHCJ, warmly received participants and emphasized the importance of the workshop in fostering both personal and communal growth within the province.
Setting the tone for the sessions, Rev. Fr. Cyprian highlighted the deeper meaning of leadership and followership, noting that individuals follow leaders not merely for the sake of obedience, but for spiritual growth. He encouraged the sisters to learn, obey, and grow under the guidance of their leaders, recognizing leadership as part of God’s divine plan.
The facilitator defined discipleship as a process of learning, obedience, and growth under a leader. He stressed that true discipleship goes beyond simply following instructions and involves commitment to a shared vision, faithfulness in both small and significant responsibilities, and the imitation of positive values. He further reminded participants that leadership is not confined to positions of authority but is reflected in everyday acts of faithfulness.

Throughout the session, key aspects of discipleship were explored, including learning, obedience and practice, service and mission, and spiritual growth. Participants were encouraged to study and internalize the values of their leaders, apply them in daily life, serve selflessly, and continually grow in their spiritual journey.

The workshop is expected to deepen the sisters’ understanding of discipleship and enhance their contribution to the mission of the HHCJ Ghana Province.
