Sacred Heart Senior High School headed by Sr. Benedicta Uzokwe, HHCJ of the Handmaids of Holy Child Jesus has once again demonstrated academic excellence by securing qualification for the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after an outstanding performance in the Bono Regional competition.
The competition, held yesterday, featured four schools: Sacred Heart SHS, Salvation Army SHS, Nkrankwanta SHS, and Nkoraman SHS. Sacred Heart SHS emerged victorious with an impressive score of 71 points, earning a well-deserved place at the national championship.
The school’s success was driven by an exceptional team of contestants comprising Sepaga Solomon Salewe, Mustapha Hisham Ahmed, and N-ngmaar Solomon Saabanyaa. Their confidence, brilliance, teamwork, and determination earned the admiration of supporters and secured another remarkable milestone in the school’s academic journey.
The team was led by the NSMQ Coordinator and Trainer, Mr Felix Bemipor Kuusaalesuo, whose dedication and strategic coaching have transformed the school’s participation in the competition. He was ably assisted by Mr Sekyere Stanley, Mr Daniel Tierter Tatl, Mr Abdul Rahman, and Mr Fadul Rahaman Abubakar, whose collective efforts contributed immensely to the team’s success.
This qualification carries special significance. In 2025, Sacred Heart SHS also qualified for the national championship but exited the competition at the preliminary stage after facing a strong challenge from St. Aquinas SHS. Rather than discouraging the team, that experience became a source of motivation to work harder and return stronger.
Since Mr Felix Bemipor Kuusaalesuo assumed leadership of the NSMQ team in 2022, Sacred Heart SHS has witnessed remarkable progress in its performances, reflecting a culture of discipline, commitment, and academic excellence. His vision has always been to make Sacred Heart SHS a force to be reckoned with on the national NSMQ stage and to project the school’s academic achievements to a wider audience.
As the school celebrates this remarkable victory, the entire Sacred Heart SHS community extends heartfelt congratulations to the contestants, coaches, school management, staff, students, alumni, and all supporters whose encouragement and prayers contributed to this achievement.
With qualification secured, all eyes now turn to the national championship, where Sacred Heart SHS will proudly represent the Bono Region. The school remains hopeful that this year’s team will surpass previous achievements and continue to make history.
