Over forty Sister Communicators from across Ghana have acquired new skills in news writing and editing following an online workshop held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The training, which brought together over 40 Sisters, both old and new members, focused on improving participants’ ability to write compelling news stories, edit effectively, and communicate information in an engaging manner.
The virtual training organised by the Catholic Sister Communicators Network (CASCON-GH) with funding from the Conrad Hilton Foundation, was facilitated by media and communications experts, Mr. Gameli Yao Attipoe and Mr. Damian Dieu Donne Avevor, who guided participants through the fundamentals of news reporting and editing skills.

They emphasized that a good news story must be timely, relevant, and easy to understand. Participants were also reminded of the importance of addressing the six key elements of news writing: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
In addition, the facilitators introduced the concept of storytelling as a tool for enhancing news delivery. They explained that while news reporting focuses on factual accuracy, storytelling helps to connect with audiences by incorporating human experiences, emotions, and clear lessons.

By blending factual reporting with storytelling techniques, participants were encouraged to make their reports more appealing and relatable.
Participants described the workshop as insightful and beneficial, noting that it has strengthened their confidence and capacity to communicate effectively in their daily work.
At the end of the two-day training, Sr. Emmanuella Dakurah, Director of CASCON-GH, thanked Hilton Foundation for the support and the facilitators for imparting new knowledge on media and communications to the Sisters.

She also commended the Sisters for their full participation and assured the facilitators that as Sister Communicators they would in every way make the knowledge acquired impact their daily work by projecting the activities of their various Congregations
