Forty-eight Sisters of Mary Immaculate Congregation have renewed their vows for at ceremony at the SMI Pre-Novitiate Chapel at Daffiama in the Wa Diocese on August 14, 2024.

Thirteen Temporary Sisters renewed their vows, eleven renewed for one year and two Sisters for two years and thirty-six perpetual Sisters also rededicated themselves to the Lord by their commitment to continue to serve Him.

Sr. Christina Pogbeyir, the Superior General of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI) who received both Temporary and Perpetual Sisters’ renewal of vows admonished Sisters not to throw away what they have learned from the retreat, which preceded the ceremony.

She advised the Sisters to carry along all the good talks that they had been given to help and make impacts in their communities, work places and for themselves.

She urged them to carry God in their hearts on daily basis for Him to continue to guide them in the commitment they had made to the Lord.

“Unity symbols the union with God, division is from the evil one,” he said.

According to him, the sisters have the responsibility to safeguard the moral life or right of the people, saying, “By virtue of being a religious, a Sister has the moral authority to safeguard the moral lives of the people.

Fr. Baghrmwin appreciated the SMIs for the great things they are doing, their lifestyle tells a lot of their stories, the simple, simple things that they do.

Admonishing the sisters, he added that they should never take it for granted because in the eyes of God it’s very important.

He advised Sisters to double the presence of God in their communities when they come together, adding, “Everything that you do as Religious Sisters must start with reconciliation within oneself and be at peace so that the can move forward.

“Failure to reconcile is a sin and reconciliation must come from the heart. Forgiveness is the key to God,” he said.
