The Congregation of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word (SVI) in the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani held its first joint recollection on March 7, 2026, at its Novitiate at Mantukwa in the Bono Region of Ghana.
The recollection was preached by Rev. Msgr. Richard Kofi Kyeremeh, under the theme “Seeking the Lost Treasure of Our Life” (Jeremiah 29:10–13).
In his reflection, Msgr. Kyeremeh quoted St. Augustine by reminding the Sisters that “our hearts are restless until they rest in the Lord.”
He urged them to prioritize their relationship with God and to let go of fleeting pleasures that distract them from their spiritual calling.
Drawing parallels from several Gospel stories, he highlighted the importance of restoration and unconditional love.
He referenced the parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, and the healing of the woman with the issue of blood to illustrate how God continually seeks to restore His people.

Msgr. Kyeremeh emphasised that Lent is a special time for self-reflection and a return to God. He encouraged the sisters to make time for God regardless of their apostolates, noting that there is often the temptation of being too busy with the work of the Lord without spending time with the Lord of the work.
He added that Lent offers a unique opportunity to deliberately search for and rediscover what may have been lost in one’s spiritual life.
During his homily at the Eucharistic celebration, he urged the sisters to make a decision like the Prodigal Son and return wholeheartedly to God.
Reflecting on Christ’s love and mercy for humanity, Msgr. Kyeremeh called on the Sisters to imitate Christ by loving others unconditionally, without expecting immediate change or conversion from them.
As part of the recollection, a penitential service was held during which Msgr. Kyeremeh encouraged the Sisters to nurture their initial vocational vision, seek spiritual direction, and surrender to God even in moments of pain and difficulty.
He acknowledged that every individual faces challenges in life and reminded the sisters to find rest in Christ.

Reflecting on the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 11:28-30, Msgr. Kyeremeh reminded them of Christ’s invitation to all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest.
The recollection provided the sisters with an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal as they continued their mission of service in the Church.
