Rev. Fr. Samuel Eco Kornu, Chaplain of Mater Ecclesiae School at Sokode Gbogame in the Ho Diocese has exhorted the members of Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church(SMMC) Congratulation to live in unity, truth and love at their annual Pentecost gathering.

In his homily, he stated: ” Today, the Church rejoices in one of her greatest feasts — Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, the day the Church was truly born.”

“It is a feast of fire, wind, and divine transformation and as Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, today carries a special meaning for you — because you are not just part of the Church; you are signs of her maternal love, her life, and her missionary spirit,” he said.

Fr. Kornu enumerated that the Spirit comes into Community to create unity and oneness.

According to him, the Acts of the Apostles indicates that “they were all together in one place.”

The Holy Spirit, he noted, did not come upon individuals in isolation but upon a community in prayer — just like you.

Fr. Kornu pointed out that the Spirit filled the whole house where they were sitting, just as He fills this chapel today.

This, he indicated, reminded “us that the Holy Spirit animates not only persons but communities.”

” Your life together as Sisters — your prayers, your meals, your ministries, your joys and even your struggles — is the ground where the Spirit moves,” he stated.

Adding, he told the Sisters: “You, as Consecrated Women, have been set apart not to escape the world, but to be God’s living signs in the world.”

Pentecost, he told the Sisters “is a reminder that your charism — the gift God gave your congregation — is not static. It is dynamic, always moved by the breath of the Spirit.”

“Sisters, Pentecost invites you to renew your unity in diversity,” he opined, advising them “Let your differences enrich your communion, not divide it.”

He added: ” The Spirit unites, He does not scatter.”

He noted that the SMMC Congregation is missionary by nature. Pentecost is not a conclusion; it is a commissioning. Sisters, the Spirit is sending you anew — to schools, clinics, villages, towns, and hearts.

He urged them: “You are bearers of the fire of God’s love. Do not be afraid to let it burn brightly.”
