Consecrated men and women from across Ghana have converged at the Pastoral Centre in Suyani, Bono Region of Ghana, West Africa for the National Jubilee Year Celebration of Consecrated Persons.
Participants to this very important 4-day celebration began arriving the Centre on January 30, 2025, where they were warmly welcomed by Sr. Francisca Damoah, SIJ, and Vice President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious, Ghana (CMSR-Gh), on behalf of the Conference. Registration of participants was also done, along with other logistics.
Taking the participants through the program for the Celebration, Rev. Fr Paul Saa-Dade Ennim, SMA, President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious, Ghana (CMSR-Gh) outlined activities that would include Holy Mass, a talk on the Jubilee Year and the Opening Ceremony on Friday 31st January that will feature 4 Catholic Bishops.
Other activities would include Reports from various groups and socialization among others. The Saturday 1st February activities would include Holy Mass, environmental awareness campaign and clean-up exercise within the streets of Suyani, and some Religious would visit a ‘galamsey’ site to interact with the people, all aimed at creating awareness on the need to preserve the environment and how to deal with plastics.
There would also be a Panel discussion comprising a lay person, a female and a male religious. The celebration of the traditional February 2, Day of Consecrated Life will commence with a Candle-Light Procession and Benediction, on the eve, culminating in a Solemn Holy Mass on Sunday that will be officiated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana His Excellency Julien Kabore. There will also be Vocation Animation among the Various Congregations present.
To immortalize the Jubilee year of the Consecrated Persons, the President proposed a slogan for the Celebration which was “Consecrated Life: Charisms for One Mission”. This, he said will henceforth be used by Religious whenever and wherever they meet.
Fr. Ennim apologized for any inconveniences or oversights on the part of the organizers and promised that the final program would be sent to the various Religious platforms to keep everyone abreast of the running of the program.
