The Conference of Major Superiors of Religious -Ghana (CMSR-GH) has paid a courtesy call on the new Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency, Most Rev. Julien Kaboré at the Nunciature on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

The visit by the CMSR-GH was to welcome the Nuncio officially and to pledge the Conference’s allegiance and support to him on behalf of the Consecrated Men and Women in Ghana.

Fifteen delegates of the Conference paid the courtesy call led by Very Rev Fr. Paul Saa-Dade Ennin, SMA, the President of CMSR-GH and Sr. Theodora Adzayawo, SMMC, the Executive Secretary of the CMSR-GH.

Fr.  Ennin, SMA,  the President of the CMSR-GH, in his introductory said, “On behalf of the Conference we thought it is important that we come to give you the traditional ‘Akwaaba’  to Ghana”.

He further pledged the support and commitment of the Conference for the work of the Nuncio in Ghana, noting that the Conference was happy to have him appointed to Ghana. The President believes that the CMSR-GH’s support to the work of the Nuncio is by extension showing their commitment to the Holy Father.

Fr.  Ennin wished the Nuncio a joyful, fulfilling and happy stay in Ghana.

Archbishop Kaboré thanked the Conference for their kind gesture and expressed his joy for the visit and thanked God for the gift of Religious Life to the Church.

He also expressed gratitude to the Conference for its spiritual support for the Church saying, “thank you for this very beautiful diversity which is the expression of the richness of the Church and your Charism.”

According to him, the Church can only move forward depending on the Spirit of God which inspires us, using the two wings of God; that is, the wing of the Diocese and that of the Religious Life.

He said the Religious Life is a testimony for the Church, emphasizing that, “it is a school of holiness to all of us and the people seeing you.”

The interaction between the Nuncio and the representatives of CMSR-Gh was preceded by the celebration of the Liturgy of the Word which took place in the Chapel.

In a reflection on the Gospel of the day, the Nuncio reminded the Major Superiors  to keep their life of prayer and service intact and never skip prayer easily, else the devil would come and still their ‘weapons’ away.

“When you skip breakfast, your day may be a bit challenging. Same thing for prayer. If you skip Morning Prayer, for example, then you have a little bit of difficulty to face the day.”

The current Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Archbishop Julien Kaboré was appointed by Pope Francis in June 2024.

He is originally from Burkina Faso and has served in various diplomatic roles within the Holy See, including positions in countries like Ireland, Kenya, and the Philippines. Archbishop Kaboré succeeded Archbishop Henryk Jagodziński, who was transferred to South Africa in April 2024.
