The Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC) of the Ho Diocese in Ghana’s Volta Region have been urged at day’s workshop to explore all means to make good use of the new media.

Speaking to the Sisters on New Evangelization in Digital World of Communication on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Sokode Gbogame in Ho Diocese, Mr. Robert Dela Mawuenyegah, a Media and Communications Consultant, based in Accra educated the Sisters on the positive uses of new media and how to explore the social media handles at their disposal.

He said, “There is nothing evil about new technology and media but one must use the right tools and skills to re-evangelise and revitalize the spread of the gospel”.

Mr. Mawuenyegah  who is the Executive Director of Global Newswatch Media and Communications acknowledged the efforts the Catholic Church is putting in place to evangelise the masses especially Christians in traditionally Christian regions where faith has declined.

He, however, cautioned the Sisters not to be carried away with the trend of the communication tools but be abreast with the ethical issues that come with exploring digital communication.

Sr. Dr. Lucy Hometowu, SMMC, the Superior General, the Council and the entire institute were appreciative of the opportunity to be encouraged to use new media to project the Institute and have vocation drives.
