A Nun of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), has urged parents to be the first teachers of the faith to their children at home.
Sr. Emmanuella Dakurah, HHCJ, Headmistress of the St. Mary Preparatory and Junior High School in Ghana’s Sunyani Diocese, made the call at a Holy Mass at the School during which 21 Students were confirmed on Thursday, July 10.
She encouraged parents to take the education and the faith of their children seriously.
The Confirmation was administered to the pupils by the Most Rev. Matthew Gyamfi, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani Diocese.
Parents of the Confirmandi, alongside staff and pupils, graced this important spiritual milestone, which marks the deepening of the pupil’s’ faith and their full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Addressing the gathering , Sr. Dakurah, who is a Sister Communicator, expressed the School’s deepest gratitude to the Bishop for his prompt response and continuous availability to the School whenever called upon.
She also extended her heartfelt thanks to the parents for their presence and support,
She thanked those who contributed to making the celebration a memorable and successful one.

Also in attendance were the School’s Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joachim Boadi, and the Parish Priest of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Appiah.
In his homily during the Mass, Bishop Gyamfi encouraged the newly confirmed to live out the values of the Gospel with courage and to be true witnesses of Christ in their daily lives.
He reminded them of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and urged them to grow in faith, love, and service.
The ceremony ended with joyful thanksgiving, music, and expressions of appreciation for all who played a role in the day’s celebration.
