The Holy Rosary School at Asikasu-Donkorkrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District, Eastern Ghana, has celebrated a Solemn Holy Mass to mark the beginning of the new Academic Year 2024/2025.

The September 18 Holy Mass which took place in the School’s Assembly Hall was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Vincent Amuzu Asafo, SVD, the Bishop’s Secretary and Assistant Cathedral Administrator of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Donkorkrom.

In a homily, he charged the teachers to use their God-given gifts to serve the school community and not see them as a means of looking down on others like the early Corinthian community (1Corinthians 12:31–13:13) who began splitting because some felt they were more influential and gifted than others.

“Whatever gift we have received from God, it is meant to build the church, the community in which we find ourselves,” the priest underlined.

He further underpinned that just as the human body had many parts, with each having a vital and unique role to play, so too the staff of Holy Rosary School had been called to take up various functions in the school: some teachers, others drivers, administrators, gardeners among others, and each of these areas of responsibility are vital to the growth of the institution, therefore each one must take their roles seriously.

“We all have something beautiful to contribute in making our school community a success; so you don’t have to look down on your brother or sister. Everybody is important,” Fr. Amuzu reiterated, adding, “Even though we are so many, we are one in Christ, because we have all received from the same spirit.”
