Nine SMMC Sisters to Celebrate Jubilees

Nine members of the Institute of Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC) will be marking their Ruby and Silver Jubilees at the Mater Ecclesiae School Hall at Sokode Gbogame on September 8, 2025 in the Catholic Diocese of Ho, Volta Region of Ghana.

Sr. Cecilia Afari, SMMC

Sr. Cecilia Afari and Sr. Constancia Atachie are marking their Ruby Jubilee while Sisters Lucy Mawuenya Pitapi, Georgina Veronica Kpeglo, Evelyn Claudia Afriyie, Cynthia Veronica Ankamah, Mary Consolata Ntenye, Victoria Osorade and Elizabeth Liberty Setorwu are marking their Silver Jubilees.

The main celebrant of the Jubilee Mass would be the Most Rev. Anthony Kwami Adanuty, Emeritus Bishop of Keta-Akatsi Diocese.

Sr. Constancia Atachie, SMMC

Sisters Afari and Atachie joined the Institute and made their temporary and perpetual profession of vows on September 8, 1985 and August 15, 1992 respectively. Both Sisters hail from Ho-Dome and Ho-Bankoe, two suburbs of the capital of the Volta Region.

Sr. Cynthia Veronica Ankamah, SMMC

The Sisters engaged in the teaching and healing apostolates of the Institute for all these years and served in different capacities of leadership, until their civic retirement.

Sr. Georgina Veronica Kpeglo

The Sisters marking 25 years of dedication to God in the service of His Church, joined the Institute of the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC) in 1996.

They professed their temporary vows on August 15, 2000 and for a period of continuous formation and discernment, they made their perpetual profession of vows on August 15, 2009.

Sr. Evelyn Claudia Afriyie, SMMC

From humble beginnings, these Sisters are engaged in various apostolates of the Institute as Catechist, Liturgical Artisans, Health Service Administrator and Procurement Officers.

Sr. Victoria Osorade, SMMC

The aspirations of these Sisters’ stem from the fact that they want to expand their ministry, reaching out to the marginalised communities, par excellence, and promoting greater understanding and compassion about healthcare delivery.

Sr. Lucy Mawuenya Pitapi, SMMC

They mentor younger Sisters by sharing their experience and wisdom with them and Coontinue advocating for equity, justice and peace, and inspiring others to join the religious life in this important work.

Sr. Elizabeth Liberty Setorwu, SMMC

Of contemporary need and concern, these Sisters are passionate about women and children’s health needs and hopes that their little efforts would lead to improving their health and welfare in the society.

Sr. Mary-Consolata Ntenye, SMMC

On September 8, 2025, these Sisters would re-consecrate themselves to God through the intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church, the patroness of the Institute and be convinced that the journey so far was by the grace of God. Come and join us to celebrate the greatness of God in their lives and be inspired by their vocation stories and unwavering faith.
