Some Sisters of various Religious Congregations in Ghana especially in the Sunyani Diocese attended the funeral of the Mother and Sister of Rev. Fr. Thomas Oppong Febiri, the Vicar General of the Sunyani Diocese.
The Sisters participated in a well-attended Mass presided over by the Most Rev Matthew Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
The Requiem Mass for Obaapanin Martha Damoah and Mame Theresa Yeboaa, the mother and sister respectively was held on January 25, 2025.
The Mass was concelebrated by the Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, Bishop of Techiman Diocese.
In his homily, Fr. Joseph Domfeh, the Cathedral Administrator for Sunyani Diocese, eulogized the two women, saying they had lived their lives with purpose and dedication to their faith.
The funeral was attended by Priests, Religious, and sympathizers from across the country.
Bishop Gyamfi urged the faithful to encourage their children to join the priesthood and religious life, rather than discouraging them. He also encouraged young couples to have more children, citing the importance of succession and continuity.
Obaapanin Martha Damoah was 81 years old, while Mame Theresa Yeboaa was 61 years old. May their souls rest in peace.
Their mortal remains were laid to rest after the Requiem Mass at Asikasu No. 1 in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region.
