Ghana’s Bishop Gyamfi Urges SVI Sisters to Give Their All to God.

The Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, Most Rev. Mathew K. Gyamfi, has urged the Sisters of the Incarnate Word (SVI) to let their commitment to God be complete, not partial.

He made this call during a Holy Mass that marked the beginning of the three-day celebration of the Feast day of the SVI Sisters, held from December 28 to 30 at the SVI Novitiate in Mantukwa, Bono Region, Ghana.

The celebration, which coincided with the feast of the Holy Innocents, was a family feast that brought together the SVI Sisters, their founder, and the Bishop of Sunyani Diocese.

In his homily, Bishop Gyamfi reflected on the story of the Holy Innocents, who were killed in infancy, and how their sacrifice teaches us to give our all to God.

He emphasised that God wants 100% of our lives, not just 90% or 80%.

The Bishop encouraged the Sisters to persevere in their commitment to God, even in the face of challenges, and to trust in His goodness, even when they suffer innocently.

He reminded them that their vows were their own and that they should strive to fulfill them.

Bishop Gyamfi also cautioned the Sisters against being lazy or relying on others to do the work for them.

Instead, he urged them to take risks, face challenges head-on, and remember that their lives are a journey of discernment.

He encouraged them to become more like the innocent ones, who gave their lives for the sake of Jesus.

The Bishop’s message was inspired by 2 Corinthians 9:7, which says, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

He concluded by praying that the example of the Holy Innocents would inspire the SVI Sisters to give their all to God and to persevere in their journey of faith.
