On August 22, 2024, six Nuns of the Sisters of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ) professed their vows at the St. Paul Catholic Church at Nsoatre in Ghana’s Bono Region.

The celebrant of the Eucharist was the Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of the Diocese of Sunyani.

During his homily, he congratulated the Sisters for coming this far and expressed that “we are all proud of you for making this bold decision.”

“In the womb you were consecrated, anointed and appointed prophetess by the Lord” he said, adding, “We did not know this that is why today the Lord God announces it through this celebration to the hearing of all of us as the ones He has chosen, anointed and appointed to serve his people.”

According to Bishop Gyamfi, by presenting themselves they had accepted the Lord’s invitation and are expressing their readiness to be sent to wherever they are posted and to carry out to best of their abilities all the assignments that will be given them.

He entreated them to stop dreaming about when they would have their perpetual vows, for in the eyes of God, they have been consecrated, He has taken their final vows even when they were in the womb.

“What the Lord expects of them today, is for them to say yes to his call once and for all,” he stated.

He urged them to press on because the Lord Jesus has made them His own.

“Press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Remember your first vows are also your perpetual vows,” the Bishop told the Sisters.
