Sr. Gifty Eulogizes Father on “Father’s Day”

On June 15, 2025, the world marked Father’s Day—a day meant for celebration—I find myself remembering and honoring the man who can no longer stand beside me, but whose presence is still felt in every corner of my life.

My father was many things: a provider, a protector, a mentor, and most of all, a man of quiet strength and deep love. He didn’t always express his emotions with words, but you felt his love in everything he did. Whether it was the way he showed up every single day for our family, the way he worked tirelessly to give us a better life, or the way he believed in us—he led by example and taught us what it meant to be truly strong.

He wasn’t perfect—none of us are—but he was perfectly ours. His laugh could fill a room, his advice could calm any storm, and his hands—worn and weathered—held a lifetime of hard work and care. He taught me values I carry with me to this day: integrity, resilience, and the importance of showing up for those you love.

On this Father’s Day, I feel the ache of his absence more deeply. I miss the conversations we used to have, the stories he would tell, the comfort of simply being in his presence. But I also feel a profound sense of gratitude—for the years I had with him, for the lessons he taught me, and for the love he gave so generously.

Daa, you may no longer be here in body, but you are with me in everything I do. Your legacy lives on in the way I live my life, in the way I love my family, and in the strength I draw from your memory.

Thank you for being my father. Thank you for your sacrifices, your wisdom, and your unwavering love. I carry you with me, today and always.

Happy Father’s Day in heaven.
