Sister Communicator Linda Ojawuri, JMJ Seals Lifelong Vows

In an inspiring display of lifelong devotion, Sr. Linda Ojawuri of the Sisters of Jesus, Mary, Joseph (JMJ) has officially sealed her calling, taking her Perpetual Religious Vows at a profound ceremony held at the St. James Parish Church, Tunsom Estate, in the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani.

The momentous occasion, which took place on July 28, 2026, was graced by Most Rev. Mathew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), who served as the chief celebrant and Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, bishop of Techiman Diocese.

Following her milestone profession, Sr. Linda brought her heartfelt thanksgiving home to the Jasikan Diocese. The vibrant celebrations kicked off with an enthusiastic welcome procession led by church members, family, and the entire community of Borae on Saturday, August 15, 2026 evening.

The festive weekend climaxed in a glorious Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, August 16, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Borae No. 2, an outstation of the Sacred Heart Parish, Chinderi.

Presided over by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Stanley Ntoso, the service was filled with spiritual reflection and community pride.

Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. Prosper Anenbor encouraged Sr. Linda as she steps through the gateway of this vibrant new chapter in her vocation. While acknowledging that challenges will inevitably arise, he reassured her of God’s unwavering presence and constant assistance every step of the way.

The milestone event drew a massive gathering of clergy, religious sisters, traditional leaders, and political figures, all coming together to celebrate God’s goodness: Representatives from the Sisters of Jesus Mary Joseph (JMJ)- Sr. Rosily Abraham, JMJ the Regional Superior and her Sisters, Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC), and Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ).

Priests present included Rev. Fr. Stanley Ntoso, Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Amelefimah, Associate Priest, Rev. Fr. Seth Abero, Rev. Fr. Cletus Asumpka Mensah, Rev. Fr. Prosper Anenbor, and Rev. Fr. Elijah Nakoba.

Dignitaries and traditional leaders were: Hon. Kpebu Kofi, Oti Regional NDC Vice Chairman; Nana Boniface Chiikpah and Opanyi Anyegyi Yaw (representing Nana Bongya, the Chief of Borae); Odikro of Borae, and his elders; elders of the Sarichi Zongo; Oti Regional Zamblama Chief, Sariki Yakubu Adamu; representatives of Nana Okoegye, Chief of Chinderi; alongside esteemed queen mothers- Nana Egyewone Mary II, Kyedomhemaa of Krachi Traditional Area, Nana Amatia Monica II of Kantakofore and elders of the Borae Traditional Area.

The presence of these leaders brought joy and a sense of belonging to Sr.Linda.
In her closing remarks, an appreciative Sr. Linda expressed her profound gratitude to everyone who traveled and gathered to share in her joy and witness her lifelong commitment to God.

Biography of Sr. Linda Ojawuri, JMJ

Sr. Linda Ojawuri was born as a twin in Borae in the Oti Region of Ghana to her parents, alongside her twin sister, Lily Ojawiri. She is the third born in a family of ten children. She attended Borae L/A Primary B for her primary education and Borae L/A Junior High School (JHS), successfully writing her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2000.
She proceeded to the Fr. Odogli Memorial School at Ayoma-Buem in the Oti Region of Ghana from 2001 to 2003, where she studied Secretarial Studies. She later transferred to the Business Secondary School (BISCO) in Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana to continue her studies in the same field, completing her program in 2005.

Sr. Linda enrolled at St. Francis College of Education (FRANCO) in Hohoe, graduating with a Diploma in Basic Education in 2010.

She pursued further studies through distance education at the University of Education, Winneba, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Basic Education between 2011 and 2013.

Sr. Linda taught for some years before answering her religious vocation.
In 2017, she joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus Mary and Joseph (JMJ). She made her temporary profession of vows in 2021.

After her temporary profession, Sr. Linda undertook further studies at the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG), Fiapre- Sunyani between 2023 and 2025, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

On July 28, 2026 she professed her perpetual vows after her application for final commitment was accepted.

Beyond her academic and religious pursuits, Sr. Linda is musically inclined; she is a strong alto singer and plays the drums.

She is also a member of Catholic Sister Communicators Network, Ghana-CASCON-GH.
