Two SMI Sisters Totally Commit Themselves to the Lord

It is wonderful that the Solemnity of the Assumption is a particularly significant day for the Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI) Congregation.

The congregation is very privilege to have two of their Sisters who totally committed themselves to the Lord by making their final profession in Daffiama, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Upper West Region on August 15, 2026.

For the SMI Sisters, the Assumption of Mary serves as a powerful spiritual anchor for their final vows.
Just as Mary gave her entire being to God’s service, the Sisters make their total, irrevocable gift of themselves to God through their vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. This act of complete consecration mirrors Mary’s own complete dedication.

Their vows are a commitment to live out, in a specific way, the virtues that Mary exemplified throughout her life and which are now perfected in her Assumption humility, love, service and unwavering faith.

Celebrating final vows on such a high Marian feast day is seen as a special divine blessing upon Sr. Rita Kuubetersuur and Sr. Mary Tang and the entire SMI Congregation.

Sr. Rita Kuubetersuur, is a native of Goziri, Nuru-yiri, Nandom, a parishioner at St. Theresa’s Minor Basilica, Nandom.

She studied Fashion Design and Textiles at Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University in Wa. She works at St. Theresa’s Vocational Institute in Daffiama.
Sr. Mary Tang is from Jirapa located in the Upper West Region of Ghana, who integrates her faith into both her professional and personal life. Working as an accountant at the Donald Richard Memorial Health Centre in Nakwabi.
She approaches her duties with integrity, transparency and compassion. She strive to serve God and be a positive influence in hers workplace, church and community.

These two Sisters received the ring from the SMI Superior General, Sr. Christina Pogbeyir and filled their empty baskets with religious symbols. The Bible, Cross, Candle and Rosary for their religious faith journey.
