Kpando- Konda in the Volta Region is witnessing a quiet educational revolution. There, schooling is viewed as much more than just preparing for exams; it is treated as a sacred calling to shape the minds, hearts, and futures of the next generation.
True to its Latin name, Donum Dei School, which translates to “Gift of God”, has steadily established itself as a beacon of hope and holistic development for families in the region.

The story of Donum Dei began in 2006 under the visionary guidance of Rev. Fr. Apollonaries Anyomi, a priest from the Diocese of Ho, who founded the institution as a modest nursery and kindergarten. His dream was to plant a seed of quality education deep within the community.

That seed has since grown into a thriving tree. In a major milestone on January 18, 2022, Rev. Fr. Anyomi officially handed over administration of the school to the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC). At the time of the transition, the school catered for 78 learners spanning from kindergarten through Junior High School (JHS) 3.

Under the dedicated, nurturing stewardship of the SMMC, the institution has experienced remarkable progress. Today, Donum Dei boasts a vibrant community of 115 learners, guided closely by a committed team of 12 professional teachers who ensure that no child gets lost in the crowd. Forty-six (46) Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E. C.E) candidates have successfully graduated from the school with good grades within the four years since SMMC took over.

Walking onto the Donum Dei campus reveals an atmosphere uniquely engineered for focused learning and personal growth. Far from the distractions of busy urban centres, students benefit from a serene, secure, and conducive environment.
Modern educational needs are met head-on through a computer lab, bridging the technological divide for young learners. Meanwhile, a peaceful library fosters a lifelong love for reading, and a wide playground guarantees that physical fitness, recreation, and social teamwork are prioritised alongside academics.

At the core of the school’s daily life is its guiding Latin motto: “Scientia Sapientia vita”; “Knowledge and Wisdom for Life.” This philosophy drives the institution to instil not just academic facts, but the moral grounding and practical wisdom needed to navigate an ever-changing world.Donum Dei is an institution with its eyes firmly fixed on the future.

Building from where SMMC took over, the administration has announced ambitious plans to transition the school into a full-fledged boarding facility. This strategic evolution aims to extend the school’s unique brand of disciplined, value-driven education to families from far and wide, offering an immersive environment where students can truly thrive.

As admissions remain open for the upcoming academic term, the leadership of Donum Dei Basic School extends a warm invitation to parents and guardians seeking an environment where academic rigour meets genuine moral care. We call on parents to enrol their children at Donum Dei School for a brighter future.
