Ghana: Catholic Vocation Directors’ Annual General Meeting Underway in Tamale

Catholic Vocation Directors from across Dioceses and Religious Congregations in Ghana, have converged at the Centre for Pastoral Formation, Archdiocese of Tamale, in the Northern Region of Ghana, for their 46th Annual General Meeting.

The Meeting is on the theme: “Divine Call and Ecclesial Mediation: Discerning Authentic Vocations in the Contemporary Church”.

The Annual General Meeting which will run till February 16, 2026, saw the arrival and registration of participants at the Centre on February 12, 2026. This was followed by Vespers and Supper.

Present on the arrival day was the Most Rev. John Opoku-Agyemang, Bishop of Konongo-Mampong Diocese and Episcopal Chair for Seminaries, Vocations and Chaplaincies of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

The prelate, whose first time of meeting with the Vocation Directors/Directresses after his appointment, expressed joy and contentment for being present at the meeting.

He thanked all for coming and called for active cooperation for all, so that the days spent for the meeting will be fruitful and worthwhile.

The Episcopal Chair shared the hope that the general meeting may be a period of growth for all the Vocation Directors / Directresses, and that it may help them to sharpen their skills for the work they have set themselves to do for the good of the Church.

Rev. Fr. Moses Yaw, Vocation Director of Tamale Archdiocese extended a word of welcome to the participants and encouraged them to feel at home and try to make do with the resources available.

The President of the Catholic Vocation Directors’/Directresses’ Association of Ghana (CAVDAG), Rev. Fr. Francis Fynn, took the participants through the programme for the 5-day meeting.

He also facilitated the formation of Committees that will see to the smooth running of the meeting. Other activities featured on the arrival day included Self-introduction, reviewing of last minutes, amongst others.
