Sisters Find Spiritual Nourishment at CASCON-GH Workshop

About 40 sister Communicators from across Ghana gathered for a 3-day in-person training on website management and media ethics at the Centre for Spiritual Renewal in Santasi, Kumasi.

The workshop, organized by the Catholic Sister Communicators Network – Ghana (CASCON-GH), aimed to equip Sisters to better share the work and mission of their various Congregations.

But beyond the technical skills, the programme was also a time of deep spiritual nourishment.

Each day began and ended with prayer and the celebration of Mass, inviting God to lead every session. Sisters brought together their diverse spiritualities and talents, making the prayer moments rich and meaningful for all.

Presiding over the daily celebrations was Rev. Fr. Andrew Setsoafia, Jesuit Priest and Director of the Centre for Spiritual Renewal.

Through his inspiring homilies, he called the Sisters to embrace responsibility, collaborate with leadership, and carry out their mission with faith and humility.

Day 1 – Transformation in Community
Readings: Jeremiah 18:1-6 and Matthew 13:47-53
Fr. Setsoafia reflected that just as clay is shaped by the potter, we need one another in community for personal transformation. Even the person we find difficult is placed in our lives for our growth. From the Gospel, he noted that the Church is a mix of saints and sinners — sinners are given time for conversion, while saints are called to deeper transformation.

Day 2 – Bearing Witness
Readings: Jeremiah 26:1-9 and Matthew 13:47-53
Like Jeremiah, we sometimes have to deliver difficult messages, Fr. Setsoafia said. Even Jesus, though sinless, was baptized so that God’s voice could confirm Him as the beloved Son, despite doubts from those who knew His background. The message: trust God’s call even when others do not understand.

Day 3 – Rooted in Christ
Readings: Matthew 14:1-12 and Romans 8:35-39
The final reflection focused on forgiveness. We were urged to work with God’s grace to let go of unforgiveness, envy, and anger, so that our relationships with God and others are not destroyed. When we are rooted in Christ, we can hold on to Him even in disappointment, shame, and weakness.

With the serene environment of the Centre and Fr. Setsoafia’s guidance, the Sisters left not only with new media skills, but also with hearts renewed.

The experience affirmed that for religious communicators, effective ministry must be rooted in prayer.
