On August 8, 2026, a large gathering of Religious Men and Women assembled at the St. Peter’s Parish at Vakpo in the Ho Diocese to attend the burial Mass for the late mother and brother of Sr. Theodora Adzayawo, SMMC, the Executive Secretary of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana (CMSR-GH).

The funeral Mass was marked by a strong display of solidarity from various Religious Congregations and the clergy, including: Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC), Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer( HDR), Society of the Infant Jesus(SIJ), Religious of the Blessed Virgin Mary (RVM) Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), Oblates of the Holy Spirit (OHS), Sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI), and the Sisters of Jesus, Mary and Joseph (SJMJ).

The solemn liturgy also drew numerous mourners from all walks of life to offer their condolences and spiritual support to the grieving family.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Debre, delivered the homily, drawing profound reflection from the first reading (Wisdom 3:1–9), specifically focusing on the verse: “The souls of the just are in the hands of the Lord.”

Fr. Debre admonished the congregation to live their lives rooted in God, assuring them that those who do are preserved in the hands of the Lord, where no earthly force can destroy them.

Priests in the Diocese of Ho, alongside Very Rev. Fr. Charles Safo, the Assistant Secretary-General who represented the Secretary-General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference attended the Mass.

Also at the Mass was the President of the Conference of Major Superiors, Sr. Dr. Lucy Hometowu, SMMC.

The presence of the wider Religious family provided a profound sense of comfort and consolation to Sr. Theodora Adzayawo and her family during their time of immense grief.
