The Catholic Health Service of Ghana proudly announces the appointment of Sr. Bernice Regina Adzoa Gbegbeawu, SMMC as Chief Nursing Officer and Diocesan Coordinator for Nursing Services in the Jasikan Catholic Diocese.
With over two decades of distinguished service in clinical nursing, healthcare administration, and hospital management, Sr. Bernice’s career reflects unwavering dedication, leadership, and excellence in advancing patient care and nursing practice.
Her journey began at Ho Nursing Training College (1997–2000), followed by her National Service at Ho Regional Hospital, where she laid a strong foundation in clinical nursing. Rising through the ranks, she specialized in Peri-Operative Nursing at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (2002–2004) and pursued advanced studies at GIMPA, earning qualifications in Administration and Management (2007), Public Administration (2012), and Health Administration and Management (2013).

Sr. Bernice’s leadership roles have spanned several Catholic hospitals, including St. Anthony Catholic Hospital, Dzodze (2014), Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital, Weme-Abor (2018), and St. Luke Catholic Hospital, Chinderi (2024), where she was appointed Hospital Manager by Bishop Emeritus Gabriel Ababio Mante.
Her academic pursuit culminated in a Master’s Degree in Clinical Leadership in Administration and Management (2022), equipping her with advanced expertise in healthcare leadership and strategic decision-making. In December 2025, following a competitive interview process in Accra, Sr. Bernice emerged successful, earning her current role as Chief Nursing Officer.
The Diocese further entrusted her with the responsibility of Diocesan Coordinator for Nursing Services, recognizing her passion, integrity, and commitment to mentoring future healthcare professionals.

“My mission is to strengthen nursing leadership, promote excellence in patient care, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of healthcare services in Ghana,” Sr. Bernice affirmed.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the Catholic Health Service’s mission to deliver holistic, quality healthcare across Ghana.
In her joy, she expressed: “My promotion to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is the highest rank you attain in Nursing Services. It is the first in the Jasikan Diocese and Krachi Nchumuru District and above all, the first among the Nurses in SMMC.”
