The Catholic Sister Communicators Network-Ghana (CASCON-GH) has gathered 40 Consecrated Women representing various Religious Congregations and Institutes across Ghana for a three-day intensive Media and Communication Training in Kumasi.
Running from 29 July to 2 August 2026 at the Centre for Spiritual Renewal, Santasi-Kumasi, the event equips women religious with critical media and digital communication skills to enhance their evangelical mission, social advocacy, and pastoral ministries.

Beyond technical training, the gathering brings together participants from diverse regions, cultures, languages, traditions, and charisms, using communication to build unity across the richness of Consecrated Life in Ghana.
Spiritual Foundation and Call to Action
The workshop officially opened on Thursday, July 30, 2026, preceded by Holy Mass. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Andrew Setsoafia, SJ.

Drawing on the biblical symbol of the potter and the clay in the first reading of the day (Jer. 18:1-6), Fr. Setsoafia urged participants to exhibit the virtue of patience and view challenges as fire that they have to pass through to be refined, to look like the ‘beautiful finished work of the potter—the flower vase’. According to him, transformation would help them to mould the lives of others.
During the opening of the training sessions, Sr. Emmanuella Dakurah, HHCJ, the Executive Director of CASCON-GH, welcomed the participants and the facilitators. She highlighted the urgent necessity for Catholic Sisters to embrace contemporary technology and digital platforms to amplify their apostolates.

“In today’s digital era, the vital work done by our religious communities must be seen and heard. This training is designed to build our capacity so we can communicate our mission with clarity, professional excellence, and purpose,” Sr. Emmanuella Dakurah encouraged.
Practical Skills and Capacity Building
The intensive three-day curriculum, excluding the arrival and departure days, combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical application designed to foster both competence and confidence across critical communication disciplines.

Among the topics to be treated, Mr. Eric Coco Mawuenyegah, an IT and Development professional with over 10 years of experience in Information Technology, Website Development & Management, Digital Communications, Programme Coordination, and Community Engagement led the opening module on Website Management—structural design, content creation, website security, and administration fundamentals to help Sisters manage dynamic websites for schools, apostolates, and congregations.

Other topics to be treated include Ethical Journalism & News Writing, Digital Storytelling, Photography, Videography, Social Media Engagement & Strategic Communication.
Unity in Diversity and Lasting Support
Set within the serene environment of the Centre for Spiritual Renewal, the workshop balances prayer, learning, and collaborative exercises. While participants bring varied backgrounds and institutional charisms, their shared mission has fostered peer mentorship, cross-regional networking, and mutual support.
The initiative reinforces the conviction that cultural and charism diversity serves as a vital strength rather than a barrier to the Church’s evangelisation efforts.

Amplifying the Voice of the Church: By the conclusion of the programme, participants will leverage digital storytelling, photographs, websites, and social media to elevate the visibility of Catholic institutions. Through CASCON-GH’s initiative, Ghana’s Consecrated women are strengthening their collective voice—demonstrating that despite coming from different Congregations and traditions, they stand united in mission through the power of communication (Different colours, one people).
