Media Training for Catholic Sister Communicators Ongoing in Kumasi

Sisters from various Religious Congregations are gathered in Kumasi, Ghana, for a three-day, in-person media training workshop aimed at strengthening their digital communication skills.

The first day of the workshop, July 30, 2026 was divided into two comprehensive phases, beginning with a theoretical session focused on website management and media ethics.

The training is being facilitated by a team from Global Newswatch Media and Communications based in Accra.

During this opening presentation, the facilitator, Mr. Eric Coco Mawunyengah emphasised that because society is deeply embedded in the media age, religious sisters are no exception and must engage with digital tools.

He explained that websites serve as public digital platforms where organizations can share essential information.

For Religious communities, websites offer a vital space to highlight congregational news, celebrate the achievements of individual sisters, and make their ministries accessible to a global audience.

The facilitator also introduced Content Management Systems (CMS), describing them as software platforms that enable users to build and manage websites with ease. While noting that various CMS platforms exist, he highlighted WordPress as the most user-friendly option for the sisters’ media outreach.

The second phase of the day focused on hands-on practical training. Despite facing minor network connectivity challenges, the Sisters actively engaged with the session using both laptops and mobile devices.

During the practical demonstration, the facilitator helped participants log into the CASCON-GH website, guiding them step-by-step through the process of formatting, publishing stories, and uploading photos.

The productive first day concluded with a group photograph alongside the facilitator, followed by lunch.
